Counselling is a short-term talking therapy that seeks to aid a person through difficulties that they are experiencing; the content of the sessions often focuses on one specific aspect of a person's life that they are unhappy with with the aim of alleviating discomfort, distress, and symptomatic experience.
I have been trained as an integrative counsellor, I theoretically integrate person centred, psychodynamic, cognitive, and behavioural approaches to counselling.
Psychotherapy is a long-term depth approach to talking therapy, it aims to not solely understand the complexity and development of personality but to aid structural change within the psyche. The 'work' encompasses each and all components of your therapy, including the relationship with your psychotherapist.
Entering into psychotherapy is an important commitment, this means that sessions will be weekly, fifty minutes in length, and breaks or holidays will be structured and accounted for at suitable notice.
The model of psychotherapy that I am training in, and can offer, is Psychodynamic Transactional Analysis.
I am able to offer counselling to couples, groups, and families; this will be based in Group Analytic and Transactional Analytic approaches.
At present (May 2024) I am not running a therapy group, please do get in touch if you are interested and I can let you know when I am putting a group together.
