The standards of practice in counselling and psychotherapy should always be of the highest quality. I pride myself in ensuring a high standard of practice and immaculate awareness of maintaining the therapeutic frame throughout the work. Entering into a therapeutic contract and undertaking psychological work is an important decision and should be treated as such by all parties involved.
Ethical frameworks are the 'backbone' to the counselling and psychotherapy profession, they ensure that I operate with integrity, respect, safety, and competence. Due to being a member of several counselling and psychotherapy organisations it is a priority to always comply with the highest ethical standard. If you would like a copy of the ethical framework that I follow then please let me know.
Counselling training is a two-or-three year course and involves trainees to undertake their own counselling throughout; this can vary across institution. Qualified and registered counsellors can be found either on the BACP or NCPS directories (Psychology Today and Counselling Directory too).
Psychotherapy training is an intensive four-year training (minimum) but can continue for years beyond that. Trainees must be in weekly (or two or three times weekly) psychotherapy, in their training modality, for the entire duration of their training. Registered and accredited psychotherapists can often be found either on the UKCP or BPC directory (Psychology Today and Counselling Directory too).
